Carbon Block Cartridge 20″ Big Blue
CTO (Chlorine, Taste, and Odor) Carbon Block Cartridges are designed to improve water quality by removing chlorine, unpleasant tastes, and odors.
These cartridges are a critical component in various water filtration systems and offer high performance due to their activated carbon composition.
Made from high-quality activated carbon, typically derived from coconut shells or bituminous coal, which provides a large surface area for adsorption.
The carbon is compressed into a dense, solid block, enhancing contact time between the water and the carbon, which improves filtration efficiency.
The primary mechanism is adsorption, where contaminants such as chlorine, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and certain chemicals adhere to the surface of the activated carbon particles.
The dense structure of the carbon block also provides mechanical filtration, trapping particulates and sediment physically larger than the pore size of the block.
