Bottom drains are essential in any pond. All the waste material and ammonia settle at the bottom of the bond, thus a suction point is needed to ensure that all waste material is removed and filtered through the mechanical and biological filtration.
Bottom drains also make pond maintenance easier as you should never need to drain the pond to clear out built up waste or sludge in the pond if it is continuously removed mechanically by the filtration.
The custom bottom drain is for those ponds that have already been cast in concrete and do not have a bottom drains. All pipe work is then surface mounted and attached to the top of the bottom drain dome to create a suction off the floor of the pond.
